In Cumberland?s historic Monastery there is a trail commonly referred to as ?The Peace Mile." This was one of my favorite spots to go and hike around when I was a kid, and still is to this day. There are actually two trails that wind their way through the 385+ acres. Behind the Monastery is aforementioned. There is also a secondary and more complex 5 mile hike that branches of the main trail. Either are a great little hike and a great chance to just hang out in a natural setting.
Directions:
Take 295 north or south to exit 11 (Cumberland) and head south off the exit. About 2 miles down the road there will be a sign for the monastery on the right. You really can't miss it. Turn in and park, then just follow the signs to the beginning of the trail. It is well marked so just stay on the pathway.
