The Tornado Trail in Allegheny State Park is an area of forest that was devastated by a tornado several years back. A swath of forest was laid bare by the power of the winds leaving a scar on the hillside. While the trail is not very long at all it does go up a rather steep hill so be prepared for the climb. You?ll see how the forest undergrowth has taken over some parts of the hillside.
Directions:
From the Redhouse Area of Alleghany State Park take RT ASP #1 south towards the Quaker Area. About 3/4 of the way to Quaker there will be signs on the left hand side of the road marking the Tornado Trail.
