A local favorite, Tryon Park is a city park that has been somewhat abandoned by the city of Rochester and taken over by mountain bikers. This tight, technical single track overlooks Irondequoit Bay (Lake Ontario). This area boasts of some of the rawest single track riding in the area. Raw, meaning, these trails are natural and not "groomed."
At one time there was a group of free-ride riders who built some amazing stunts including, bridges, teeter-totters, dirt jumps, and a lot of other "North Shore" type stunts. There are some remnants left, but most of these stunts have been torn down. If you find anything built up please use caution because many stunts were not built well.
Park closes at dusk!
FYI: there are more trails in the area that can be accessed from Tryon Park.
Trailhead entrance #1: Take 590N to Winton Rd. heading North. Turn Right onto Tryon Rd, which is a dead-end road. Most people park on the side of the road before the bridge. The trail head is at the end of Tryon Rd. just past the gate. Please be curtious of the residents there. As far as I know they do not mind people parking in front of their homes. If someone asks you to move please do it.
Trailhead entrance #2: 590N to Browncroft Blvd. Turn right onto Browncroft Blvd. and turn a quick Right into the Browncroft Apartments complex. Once in the drive for the complex follow the road around the traffic circle to the Left and then a quick Right to go behind the building. Park near the dumpster. Trail head is East of the dumpster.
