This is a beautiful paddle down child's river into Waquoit bay. You put in down the little road, but be sure to keep your car out of the way of the big boats getting put in while you unload!! You can park in the free lot up by Edward?s boat yard. Go right off the put in. you will come to a fork in the river; if you go to the right you will head into the open ocean (and you can paddle all the way around the island!) if you go left, it will take you into Waquiot bay. the bay is good sized, can be busy with all sorts of boats on the weekends. there is camping on the island, but you have to get reservations well ahead of time from Reserve America. There are several side rivers to check out. Lots of wildlife ad birds to see. You can paddle out to the open ocean, and for the real paddlers, you can paddle 7 miles out to Martha's vineyard. I have seen lots of people kite surfing in the bay.
