Woody Point-Norris Point

A great day paddle in Gros Morne will take you across the area of Bonne Bay known as the tickle which separates the communities of Woody Point on the south shore and Norris Point on the north. The 4.5km crossing features the amazing Tablelands as a backdrop and marine mammals such as Dolphins, Porpoise, Pot Head, Minke, and Humpback Whales often frequent these rich waters to feed in the spring and summer months.

Bonne Bay is very sheltered from the prevailing South-West wind and often provides very predictable paddling conditions with a daily sea breeze that is usually no more than 10-15 knots. The scenery here is breathtaking and you can vary your route to include different parts of Bonne Bay depending on how much time you have to spend on the water.

The safest route is to cross from Woody Point to Gadd’s Harbour and then follow the coast as far as Shag Cliff before crossing back to the beach adjacent to the marine station at Norris Point.

Gros Morne Adventures in Norris Point provides rentals and guided tours for the Bonne Bay area.
