The Lorraine Lake Loop trail in Jasper National Park is a fun little trail to zip around on your x-c ski gear. For people who don't like flying down winding trails on x-c skis, you would be well advised to do this loop in the counter-clock wise direction. For everyone else, follow these clockwise directions.
Cross the paved road above the parking lot and head up the gated fire road (aka:Bald Hills Trail) for 1.3km to an unsigned junction on the right. At the 2km mark there is a steep descent to a little pond where the trail turns abruptly to the left. This corner is easily recognizable by all the crater marks left by fallen skiers.
A short distance later the trail passes Lorraine Lake where it connects with the Skyline Trailand Evelyn Creek Loop. Turn right and enjoy what can be a very fast run back down to the parking lot.
This is not a hiking trail. The trail is very boggy and there is no
trail next to Lorraine Lake, it's a bushwhack. The x-c ski trail
runs on the surface of the lake.
Parks Canada produces a trail guide of this and all other x-c ski trails in the Park called 'Winter Trails', which is available for free from the Jasper Information Centre in the town of Jasper.

From the town of Jasper drive east for 2km on Hwy 16 and turn right on the Maligne Lake Road. Cross the bridge follow the Maligne Lake Road for 47km and park at roads end.
