Regarding trail Juan de Fuca trail near Victoria, BC

Im going to be taking my 15 year old son on a small hike on the JDF trail to give him a taste of backpacking. We will probably just hike from china beach to mystic beach. Just wondering what level of difficulty this would be?

Howdy, I would say that the stretch of trail you plan on is the pretty easy
going. Judging your sons age, if he is active, you should not have too much
trouble. Next time I do this hike, I will leave from Payzant Creek, to
Mystic Beach. I know of a somewhat secret seal birthing den at a base of a
creek near or Parkinson Creek mouth into the ocean (look for a bit of a
small waterfall into a cave). There is also a cool sandstone waterfall cave
system just on the outskirts of Sombrio Beach Campsites, heading towards
Mystic Beach (look for a small creek heading to the ocean, and follow it up
until you come to the falls). I attached a map that I used
,
it is a pretty good one. If you have any other questions please feel free to
contact me. I hope you guys have a great hike. Also make sure to check out
Cape Scott (North Island) It is the coolest place on the Island.

Good day.
