Regarding trail Crypt Lake - 2 near Waterton Park Gate, AB

http://www.trailpeak.com/index.jsp?con=trail&val=2026

Hello, I plan to bring my medium sized agile dog on the Crypt Lake Hike. I'm not concerned about the distance for him. I'm only concerned about the obstacles in the trail. We plan to bring a back pack to put him in while traversing and going up the ladder etc... Does anyone recommend or discourage bringing dogs on this hike?
Thanks!

< BR>My first thoughts are pads on the feet - there are some rocks - so if your dog is accustomed to that kind of hiking, ok. Also, there are some streams that cross the trail but the trail is not level, it can be a bit slippery - be careful there.

Second thought - bears... 'nuff said.

Third thought - yes, the ledge beyond the "tunnel" can be quite challenging to climb or descend (for the dog) due to the cables and nature of the location - so if your pup is calm in the backpack carrier, should be ok. But if he/she gets spooked and starts to wiggle, it could become quite dangerous for you.

Assuming you've seen videos like mine here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG2scE7-YBQ that show the terrain in that section - remember the GoPro wide angle exaggerates things a bit.
