Regarding trail Kettle Valley Railway - Hope Section near Hope Airport, BC

http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Kettle-Valley-Railway-Hope-Section-near-Hope-Airport-BC-613

Hey all!
I've got a Rocky Mountain Whistler hybrid - front suspension, seat suspension, mountain bike frame .. but with 700 x 32 wheels. I intend to put heavier duty treads on the bike, and of course extra tubes, patches and tools, but I would like to bicycle as much of the KVR as possible (starting in Hope) for my trip back home to Ontario.

I'm looking for any advice as to what parts of the KVR are rideable with such a bike, and more importantly, which I should definitely avoid!

Thanks everyone!
Angus Ryer

.. one thing you could do is use our search engine to collect the usernames (or just click on them as you see them, the little email button) of those who have added KVR sections to Trailpeak. Just put KVR in the trail name search, and, activity mountain biking.

You can then choose to email the actual trail contributors, leave a question in particular trails, or, look at the reviews and email some of them.

My guess tho is that for the most part -- you are on rail grade and will be fine. I have had many intermediate level cyclist friends do it on a hybrid or lo-end mountainm bike, so unless you hit washouts or severely neglected sections -- which I am not aware of -- you should be fine. Afterall, the province spent millions rebuilding some of it after the fires a few years back.

you certainly can ride the trail with a hybrid. There are some sandy sections, so narrow tires sink in a bit more. You could do this trail on a tricycle if you really had to. flat and wide all the way.
