The Wheatley River must be paddled at high tide. Even at High Tide you must hug the Right hand shore going downstream at the very start of the trip by the Wheatly River Bridge. The first 10 minutes or so is very shallow in 12-36 inches of water. Great narrow river for the first 20 minutes then opens up to about 1000 feet wide. Paddled all the way to Oyster Bed Bridge. took about 1 hour and 20 minutes at a pretty leisurely pace.
Directions:
Proceed to Wheatley River Bridge. Put canoe in right at Bridge. River only 25 feet wide at this point. Make sure it's high tide or you won't be going anywhere.
