The hiking portion of this trip starts at Pangnirtung about a 30 minute flight north of Iqaluit.
It was mid July and we were a group of four. Once we arrived in Pangnirtung we attended a mandatory instruction session by the parks people regarding the park itself and safety precautions to obey. Once done we had to find a local water taxi service that would take us about 45 minutes to the end of Pangnirtung Fjord to the starting point of our hike. Our hike over 11 days took us to Summit Lake and back to the starting point. We hiked every day however some days we camped in the same spot for 2 nights and took the opportunity to hike and often scramble up the valley, over glacier moraines, steep terrain past waterfalls and meadows often reaching the bottoms of glaciers and ice cold lakes. The scenery is fantastic and one gets a real feeling of remoteness far away from civilization.
I enclose some of my favourite pictures. If you want to go and want to know more; go the Parks Canada website and search Auyuittug.
Water taxi from Pangnirtung to the end of Pangnirtung Fjord. Sorry no GPS data I don't have one, I find life is more interesting without it.

GroupTripRegarding trail Akshayuk Pass near Iqaluit, NU
I am plannning to do this wonderful trek from north to south next August. The best dates would be from the 8th until the 29th. I am planning to go for three weeks so I have extra time for weather delays and to do some scrambling.
I did the south part in 2012 and I want to go back. My research is all done and I could coordinate a lot of aspects.
I am experience and fit. I have all the gear needed, including the winter tent.
Would you want to discuss?
I could also consider doing the south part again and bring my gears for glacier travel and climbing so we can go to the base of Asgard and climb Thor on the non technical routes.
