An old trail that follows a fire road to the southwest going alongside the alexandra river to the castleguard patrol cabin and then turning northwest an following the castelguard river until finally reaching the castleguard meadows.
This is an extremely rocky and rooty trail after you reach the wardens cabin at km 20.
Be prepared for fairly large crossings of glacier fed streams and rivers.
mountain biking in the summer time would be doable up until you must forde the river at km 12 or so after coming out of the forest and going onto the river flat.
Good trail finding skills a necessity as it is an old not maintained trail that parks Canada abandoned in 1999 and since then the only signs that I saw that parks canada was there at some point was the wardens cabin a few signs at the wardens cabin entrance, signs at terrace creek campsite. Lots of overgrowth and deadfall plaugue the trail and make it a very arduous journey.
22 km north of the Saskatchewan Crossing on the Icefield Parkway(Highway 93) you will see a pull out on the left hand side of the road and this is where you will park and then you must hike north and about 300 m down the road is a well defined walking path that is graveled and this is the start of the trail.
