Camus Ridge - sometimes called Townsend Ridge (and not to be confused with the Camus Ridge by Ladysmith) - is a nice little alternative to Sugarloaf Mtn, with slightly lesser views. but the mossy ridge hike is very nice indeed, and you can shorten it by turning east on the last summit, mid-ridge, and take a steep connector down to the main trail (Veitch Road). Nice on misty days, sunny days, whenever, this trail offers different views in each season, like many Sooke Hills hikes. Only rated moderate for the 30 minutes or so of uphill at the start of the trip up the ridge. Easier than Sugarloaf.
Take Sooke Rd towards Sooke, when 4 lanes turns to 2, park on the right at the area by the mailboxes. Walk 200 mtrs back towards Victoria on the road, and pick up the trailhead.
