A short hike from the town of Banff to the falls on the Bow River - this trail can be done on either side of the river but the town side via Tunnel Mt drive is more strenuous.
Your starting point is the bridge across the Bow River in downtown bridge - once across the bridge just follow the green signs to the Falls - cyclists and cross country skiers will have to take a slightly different route as the true trail climbs up to a falls viewpoint - too steep for bikes - the alternate is well signposted -their is a picnic area at the Falls and you are likely to see river rafters taking off from the opposite shore at the mouth of the Spray River.
The trail follows the river for much of the way providing you great views of Mt Rundle, and other peaks
Some wildflowers are also in bloom.
NTS Map: 082O04 Elevation Gain: Negligible
The most common starting point is by the Bow River bridge in Banff. see note in description above.
This trail can be extended to go west towards the Cave and Basin or follow the Spray River upstream for a distance - look for a separate description of the Spray River loop

UpsideAn easy and very urbanized trail by the Bow River, very enjoyable. DownsideIf you like peace and quiet, you will not find it here. CommentReccomended hike for anyone in Banff, way better than dodging people on Banff Avenue.
