After you leave St. Mary Falls, you climb gradually as you follow Virginia Creek on its way to join the St. Mary River. Along the way you will encounter several impressive waterfalls, but none to compare with the sheer size and enormity of Virginia Falls, as it cascades about 100'. You will hear the falls long before you see it.

UpsideThis is a wonderful hike with lots to see along the way. Not too tough when you're starting out for the season either. DownsideThe spray coming off Virginia Falls can be a little cold if you're picnicing there. CommentWe do this hike as our first every season and usually head up on the May long weekend. The bonus to this is Park admission is usually still free!
