Elevation Gain: 35 m (115 ft) to lookout, slightly higher along Timberline Trail.

This paved trail begins at the Bow Summit parking lot about 40km north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway (highway 93N). Taking you through a treeline forest to a viewpoint overlooking brillantly coloured Peyto Lake, the Peyto Glacier and Mistaya Valley. From this viewpoint the Timberline Trail loops through a meadow where subalpine flowers bloom in late July or early August. Interpretive panels along the way tell you about this amazing world and how animals and plants have adapted and survived in harsh, marginal conditions. Please spare this fragile ecosystem further hardship by staying on the path.

In winter please check the local avalanche bulletins and conditions.

Directions:

The trail starts at Bow Summit Lookout parking lot at kilometer 40 north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93N), just 5 minutes north of Num-Ti-Jah Lodge
