This picturesque river is the third of Quebec's Triple Play. During the summer months, the lower river rapids are fast with tight turns. A good combination of ledge and straight wave runs with good volume throughout the season.

Directions:

You travel Hwy 17E from North Bay Ontario or Hwy 17W from Ottawa to Rolphton Ontario. Turn on Swisha Road and continue to Rapides-des-Joachims Quebec. Here you would continue your journey by air. The water in the river is running at 2-3 km/hour on average. Rapids range from Class 1 to 4 with most in the 1-2 range. Campsite are plentiful. Downside Black flies were not too bad in May but they could be serious later in the year. River could be quite low in the late summer. We traveled in mid May with no issues. Comment We were six 50ish guys, most of us have been canoeing from our teens and go on an early spring canoe trip in Ontario and Quebec each year.

Owners are friendly and their equipment is in good shape. The Lodge is old but well maintained and clean.
