Getting to the falls is a simple walk. Getting to the Ink Pots takes a little more work, but really isn't very hard at all. This is a great hike for beginners as it gives a unique view inside the canyon, great lunch break area at the Ink Pots, and a decent view of the mountains. This hike can also be done in the winter time and you can usually catch someone doing ice climbing on the falls as well. Downside This hike is Extremely popular with tourists and city folk looking to go for a stroll through nature. If you go on the weekend expect to do this at walking very slowly as there isn't usually any way to get around people on the cat walks. Comment Its good to do at least once or if your with people who have never "Hiked" before. Personally I don't actually consider this a hike unless you intend to go to the Ink Pots. Otherwise it's an over crowded well maintained pathway. No matter what the falls are always something nice to see and take in for a short time. I would Highly recommend this hike in the winter though.

Nice to sit by the river on the rocky shoal and cool your heels (literally) in the mountain water.
Downside Very busy until past the upper falls. Comment This hike isn't too strenuous, lots of rolling hills. Could be a bit muddy if it rained recently. The trail up to the upper falls is more like a walking path. Most of it is paved. After that, it is a well groomed trail to the ink pots. Up to the upper falls is very busy, so the going can be pretty slow. You have a very wide range of people, from those who just got off the tour bus to those who are more hiking inclined.

Great mountain views all around, not a difficult hike and the ink pots were a unique site for us. Downside Having to do the Johnston Canyon trail first. It was packed with slow moving tourist groups. Once you get past the falls it thinned out and was a nice hike. Comment The Johnston Canyon trail was not what we were looking for so we decided to keep going and see the Ink Pots. They turned out to be really amazing and we were happy we kept going. On our way down we thought we would try the Moose Meadows trail to avoid the Johnston Canyon route down...we ended up wandering along a trail through the forest for another few kms without actually finding the Moose Meadows. Not sure where we went wrong, but we had a great hike anyways!

We did it in spring after a snowfall too, even nicer but you've got to bring micro spikes though. Downside So many people, even in spring time, you got to be there soon. Comment Easy hike, accessible to everyone if you can make it up to 11.2 km total way return to Ink Pots. Otherwise, you can stop at the last fall and do about 5 km total.

Net elevation to Upper Falls is about 130 m and you'll go up to 321 m elevation on the way to Ink Pots. Ups and downs to the pots, so you'll have 481 m elevation total.

Pick up the pace for a better work out, or just take it easy and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls. Downside LOTS of people on the weekends. But once you get past the waterfalls its pretty clear. Comment We did this hike in just over 3hrs. It was a pretty good work out which is what we were going for and the waterfalls are absolutely beautiful! Good hike overall. Would be very nice on a weekday morning.

The lower and upper falls are a great sight in the winter. The hike to the Ink pots is a nice combo of hills and views. Downside
Comment This was a great hike overall. The snow is still 3 feet deep on the edges of the path, so stay where the trail is packed down.

Downside Canoe. But I wanted to learn this sport. Comment During summer, I like to hike all over the places. I wanted to loose weight that's why I love to walk. While walking, I meet different kinds of people and be friends with them. You will learn something from them too.

Downside Crowds! Being the most popular trail in the park, the catwalks and trails are crowded beyond belief. Comment Go during the winter to avoid the crowds and see the frozen falls. Better yet, go at night during the winter with a headlamp and thermos of coffee under a full moon.
