Open wide trails. Not singletrack but a good training ride or hike in treed setting. All loops are here so make your own combination
From Edmonton, go west on Hwy 16 to Stony Plain. Turn right (north) on Sec Hwy 779 (rge rd 10). Go north and past the first sign for Chickakoo Rec Area. Turn left (west) on Twp Rd 540. You will now see signs for the Rec Area. Turn left (south) on Rge Rd 13. Stay on the main road but keep left at the fork. This will take you into either the boat launch parking or the main parking lot.

UpsideLots of loops that are connected allow you to personalize the length of trails you'd like to do. CommentI enjoy heading out to Chicakoo as a quick and nearby escape from the city. I am a mountain hiker but living in Edmonton, you don't always have time to escape to the mountains. Chicakoo trails give me the ability to get away and enjoy the wilderness away from the city. There isn't much of a challenge to any of the trails but there are enough loops that I have figured out a nice 10km loop that is enjoyable. (by staying right at almost every fork; check the map in the parking lot for details).
