This trail is easily accessible for Tucson locals and provides for a wonderful 3-stage ride in the beautiful Tucson Mountain Wilderness. The 1st stage involves some fairly tame trailriding and crossing a few sandy washes. The trail meanders around Brown Mountain thru beautiful desert scenery until the climb begins. The 2nd stage is the climb and involves some steep and tight switchbacks to the top. There's a nice view at the summit which spans 3 minor peaks. The ascent is roughly 500 ft. Enjoy the view at the top and keep an eye out for the geocache. The 3rd and best stage is the descent. This is a bonified 1/2 mile long, rock carved, premium example of AZ gnar gnar. You will be challenged as you contend with super tight switchbacks, barely wide enough to clear the bike (pedal clearance and manuevering a must), and very frequent 1-2 ft drops with no margin of error. A brilliant descent that drops you close to where you started. This trail is awesome if you want a short stoke in the AM or after work because it's got a bit of everything.
Take Gate Pass Road west until it intersects Kinney Road. Hang a right on Kinney and make your first left into McCain Loop Road. Look for a spot to park on the right and you'll see the trailhead marked.
