We parked at the trail head for the Brook Trail and walked up the road to the Loop Trail. Follow the Loop Trail where you will come out on a ridge looking out at several cliffs. Follow the trail eventually getting a bit steeper and coming to a section called Fat Man's Misery. Here you will find 3 iron rungs to help you squeeze your way through this fun section of trail. You may need to remove your pack for this section. From here make your way up to Tumbledown Ridge Trail and down to Tumbledown Pond. Another 1.5 miles down the Brook trail and you are back at your car.
Rt 2 to ME Rt 156. Follow 142 to Weld Corner and go right on Byron RD. Follow Byron Rd to the trail head.

CommentCompleted on 9/10/11. Started at Loop Trail, Ridge Trail to Brook Trail and a mile walk back up the road to the start of Loop Trail where we parked. Pretty cold at the top of the mountain.
