UpsideDifferent from most trails in Baxter SP in terms of the rock formations and challenging terrain. DownsideReally tough descent without gloves and hard on the knees. Be prepared to scramble on all fours. CommentI think this is a good trail to head up, not down.... Saddle may be longer and with plenty of scree, but it's easier on the body.

UpsideExcellent scenery. Fun challenging hike. DownsideSome steep climbing past the tree line. CommentI though this hike was amazing, the scenery was amazing, and it wasnt too difficult for my skill level. Once you reach the top of Katahdin you feel like you are someplace else.
