There are several options when climbing Noonmark Mtn. It is a great peak southeast of Keene Valley with incredible views during the ascent and on top. If you take the Stimson Trail out of St. Huberts, you have a moderate beginning with some fairly steep parts near the top. You can return the same way you came or continue over the mountain to the Dix Trail and return via a valley between Noonmark and neighboring Round Mtn. The descent is respectable with several steep pitches. There remains a third option. You can
approach Noonmark further to the southeast by way of Round Pond and proceed up the east side which lends itself to the description of the descent above. With two cars you can hike end to end, St. Huberts to Round Pond. This trail is well maintained and passes through both pines and hardwoods. You can do some climbing and during a winter climb crampons or aggressive snowshoes may be needed. Views of many of the Adirondack High Peaks are rewarding and nothing short of spectacular. Total ascent in less than three miles is over 2000 feet.
Exit 30 off of NYS Rt. 87. Head northwest towards Lake Placid. Round Pond Trail parking area is roughly
six miles away on your left and the parking area for the Stimson Trailhead is roughly another three miles
on your left, below the Adirondack Mountain Club golf course. It's the Adirondacks, get a map so you can
