This park owes its existence to hematite mining back in the early 1800's. The mining created a long narrow pond, which this trail now circumnavigates for a 1.8-mile loop. It's a beautiful woods walk since mining ceased here long ago.
A map, trail description, and history of the area can be found in the guidebooks "Take A Hike - Family Walks in New York's Finger Lakes Region" and "Take Your Bike - Family Rides in New York's Finger Lakes Region" both available through EMS.
From Route 104 in Ontario, head north on Knickerbocker Road and watch left on 0.5 mile for Casey Park.
