The champney falls trail is one of the easiest trails to take to the summit of Mt. Chocorua. It has many cut backs and the trail is well maintained. In the winter the trail is normally packed down very well from previous hikers. Also along your hike it is nice to stop at the Champney falls to take a break and cool off.
20 miles east of Lincoln, NH on the south side of the Kancamagus Highway

UpsideGreat 1st summit on snowshoes, but strenuous to the summit of Chocorua! DownsideThe steps at the top of the falls were a sheet of foot+ thick ice. BRING CRAMPONS OR TURN BACK. CommentSummit notes: Exposed ledges get very windy. Not much of a view ascending the switchbacks leading to the col near the summit. Saw one group of 3 on Chocorua, not a busy place in winter.
