There are loads of great trails in Callahan State Park. Lots of rolling double track
that is great for new mountain bikers or out of shape mountain bikers. Pay close
attention and you will find some cool sections of singletrack sprinkled in.
Go across the street (Perimeter Rd.) and you will find some more technical riding.
Steep climbs and hairy descents. There is enough technical riding to keep an
experienced biker happy.
These trails are also great for trail running, snowshoeing, and even cross country
skiing. Check it out -- you won't be disappointed.
From Route 30 (Pleasant Street), travel north on Woodmere to the end, then take
a right on Belknap and then the first left onto Millwood. Continue on Millwood for
several blocks. Callahan is on the left, opposite the golf course.
From Route 20 (Boston Post Road), near the Wayside Inn, take Bowditch Road
south and keep left onto Wayside Inn Road to the end. From there you can take a
right on Edmands and watch for the secondary parking lot on your left, past the
Stearns Organic Farm, or turn left onto Edmands and then the first right, onto
Grove Street, and then the first right onto Winch, which turns into Millwood Street
just after the Sudbury Valley School. The main parking lot will be on the left,
opposite the golf course.
