The hiking on Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands that the main ferry travels to from Long Warf, is an easy, packed rock trail that loops around the island. There are great views of Boston from the island and also to the other Harbor Islands in the vicinity. The hiking is not difficult but it is hot during the summer, and while there are places to rest and find some shade, I do recommend bringing plenty of water. The Island has a public beach and a very nice new visitor's center. The vistor center has Green restrooms, a snack vendor, park guides, and information on the history of Spectacle Island.
Take the Boston Island Ferry from Long Warf. It is the pier on the opposite side of the hotel, that is by the entrace to the Boston Aquarium. You can take the Blue Line T to the Aquarium stop, or the Green Line to Government Center and walk to Long Warf.
