This is a nice loop in Savoy Mountain State Forest. Nice foliage and views at the top. There are two ways to get to the top after about 1 mile. The left summit fork is steep, the right summit fork continues at a fairly moderate grade.
Junction of Hiway 2 and MA 8 in North Adams, go east on MA 2 for 5 mi. and turn right onto Central Shaft Rd. for Savoy Mtn. State Forest. Go 2 mi. and turn right to enter the State Forest. The trail head is .1 mi. west of the headquarters at the turn for the North Pond.
