This was a great hike that we did in early spring. We didnt get great views that day because of rain but I hear its a great view from MT. Race. This trip could be done easily in connection with Bear Mt. and Lion's head trip that I posted.
We started our hike from Camp Hi-rock, a YMCA camp. You might want to call ahead to reserve a parking spot and to let them know you're coming thru. We then took the AT to the Hemlocks shelter, a great shelter with plenty of tenting room.
The next day we headed out along the ridge. The way off the ridge was pretty steep and kind of tricky but it was pretty cool. Overall a great trip.
You can get directions to Camp Hi-Rock on their website. The ending point has a nice big parking lot its located off UnderMountain Road. Its a small street named Guilder Hollow, the parking lot is about 2 miles up the road.
