The trail follows Sandy Neck along Cape Cod Bay, then loops back along the marsh trail. The marsh half alternates between fairly packed dirt and sand. The hike can be shortened by utilizing one of several roads that cut across from the bay side to the marsh.
Great bird watching, with ducks, geese, herons, egrets and other shorebirds, as well as hawks and falcons.
From Rte 6 exit 5, follow rte 149 north to rte 6A. Turn left, go 2 miles and then right on Sandy Neck Road. Ranger station at 0.8 miles w/ 3 parking spaces for hikers. If those are full, proceed to the beach lots (there is a parking fee for non-residents in the summer.)
