Good parking area with restrooms. Hike starts out traversing the mountain and winds around into the canyon. Once into the canyon it follows a small stream. Most of the trail is well defined and maintained, no difficult areas, just a steady climb up to the lake. A little more than half way up, the trail splits with the left going to Dog Lake and the right going to Desolation Lake. There is a trail sign. The trail is in and out of the Pines and Quakies, with some meadows interspersed. The lake sits in a bowl with high ridges on 3 sides, with the North ridge looking down on the Park City area. Very pretty area.
Directions:
It is quite simple to find the trail head. From Salt Lake head to Big Cottonwood Canyon, go up the canyon several miles to the Sign for Mill D North, and you are there.
