This trail commences at the airstrip on the north end of Cold Fish Lake and crosses the stream flowing into Cold Fish Lake. It then climbs up through the forest on the opposite side of Cold Fish Lake from the camp, to near treeline. It takes couple of hours to hike to the entrance to Airplane Valley and is a moderate climb.
A good trail continues up the valley and follows a creek, to some washouts, and open terrain past treeline. A nice waterfall marks the boundary of the Ecological Reserve. Scree slopes lead up to snow and cliffs of the EagleNest Ridge. There are many berries on the higher slopes above the trail, we saw a large grizzly eating berries up here.
Walk to the airstrip on the north end of Cold Fish Lake and follow trail sign leading off left side of strip. Cross creek on a rather sagging bridge. (or cross the bay by boat and start where yellow flagging marks a tree)
