Remnants of stone fences, sections of which still hold the split rails that added height to the barriers, attest to the determination of those hardy souls.
hikers may catch glimpses of old foundations and other indications of former habitation and farming activity.
The trail is a straight and wide track passing through sections of mature deciduous forest. At one point a huge rock outcropping pokes into the path.
Hikers may notice foot prints of large mammals, including deer, moose and bear.
Several areas can be wet following a heavy rain or in the spring.
Sturdy footwear is suggested.
